The Republic of Uganda is characterized by a considerable number of ore deposits including base metals, precious metals, rare earth elements, as well as non-metallic industrial materials such as kaolin, phosphates, feldspars, etc. In addition, dimensional stones of metamorphic basement origin are also widespread, although they need intensive and careful studies in order to bring them to the international market. Furthermore, varieties of precious and semiprecious stones that are scarcely known to the scientific community occur in several areas, particularly in the metamorphic basement.
The Prospect occurs in Amudat District, in the eastern part of Uganda approaching the Kenyan border. The prospect totals an area of 116 square kilometers. A distance of approximately 280 kilometers separate the prospect area from the capital Kampala. Access to the prospect area is relatively tough. It can be reached through taking Mbale-Nakapiripirit road via Sironko, and on reaching Chepsikunya trading centre Junction, the Bukwo road up to Kiriki town should be taken to reach the beginning part of the concession area. Once entering the western part of the concession and after passing Greek river towards Karita town, the licensed area has one main road through Greek to Karita. Therefore, it is possible to reach the area by means of regular vehicles through the highway from Greek to Karita. Then the distance from Karita to the licensed area towards the north and northeast is approximately 15 kilometers.
